The key to finding a good builder
is through a referral from someone you can trust. Most of our customers come from recommendations made by our previous customers or by the Architects that design the projects. All of our recent clients are very gracious and will take a few minutes to talk to a prospective client about the way Mingioni Construction handled their project and will even allow visits to their homes to see the quality of the finished project. Our dealings with Mingioni Construction, from our first meeting with Joe and his team right through to final project completion last fall, were characterized by complete professionalism and a constant focus on pleasing the customer. Losing access to your kitchen for three months is never easy, but Joe and team did their best to minimize the many potential hassles of such a situation. The key to a great outcome for us was the daily presence of our on-site project manager, Dave Birch, and lead carpenter Brian Buono. Dave and Brian were on-site all day, every day, and you could set your watch each morning at 7:30 when they arrived. As project manager Dave handled every issue and spotted and resolved problems before we did, and also did some terrific custom cabinetry work as well. Dave was also extremely creative, able to take the vaguest “idea” we would describe to him and turn it into a beautiful finished product. All of our neighbors (especially those who’ve worked with other contractors) were impressed by the speed and consistency with which the Mingioni team approached the project and how quickly and smoothly everything was executed. A great example of this came at the late stages of our project, when Joe himself arrived one day to help do some finish work to help keep our completion date on schedule for a pre-Christmas delivery. There is nothing like seeing the owner himself show up on a cold December morning with a tool belt on to realize how committed a contractor is to customer satisfaction! I received a second check for many thousands of dollars in compensation for actions of your subcontractor eight years ago. We found the copingstones on the top of our new garage leaked water. You came out several times to try to correct the problem, installing new flashing, caulking, etc. When the leak persisted, we dismantled the stones and part of the brick wall to discover that your masonry subcontractor did not build the system in accordance with the architectural plan. You worked with me on correcting the problem. You performed the carpentry work and allowed me to contract with my own masons. I learned first hand how difficult it is to deal with masonry contractors. Nevertheless, the work was finally completed and you reimbursed me for all the expenses - no hassle, no problem. Please feel free to use me as a reference. I remember when I lived in Maryland there was a contractor whose motto was "We're not done until you're happy; if you're not happy, we're not done". :: Prepare Now for the Lead Paint Rule
Any jobsite that is a residential home built prior to 1978 must have a certified renovator on staff. At least one employee in these companies must be trained in these new requirements by April 2010. The requirements to become a certified renovator are to attend an 8 hour EPA certified class and pass the appropriate test. Click here for more information: www.nahb.org/leadpaint.

:: Home-buyer Tax Credit Extended
Under new law signed on November 6, 2009, the home buyer tax credit has now been extended until April 30, 2010. Some of the old rules still apply but new features have been made to include not only first time buyers but repeat buyers as well. :: PA Contractor Registration
All contractors who perform at least $5,000 worth of home improvments per year must register with the Attorney General's Office by July 1, 2009. For more info visit this Attorney General Announcement.
